At CAWL, we always place animals in the best fit home. Never on a first come first serve basis.
Our mission is to serve the pets and people of Calvert County by operating a state of the art animal adoption and education center.
Our goal is to provide a friendly, caring environment to promote the adoption of unwanted, homeless animals and to be able to support these animals until they are adopted.
Our vision is to develop resources that allow us to offer educational programs that clearly define responsible pet care and respect for all animals.

Adoption hours are every Saturday from 11 am to 3 pm. All other times are by appointment only.
Want to Help CAWL?
We are always in need of volunteers to do animal caretaking, adoption counseling and even just walking our pups. If you want to help, you can volunteer, foster, or even donate some simple supplies or check out our wishlists!

Meet Boone!
Boone is a 1 & 1/2 yr old Coonhound mix. Boone is sweet, but can be shy at first. He came from a shelter in VA and is looking for a loving family.
He walks well on a leash. He is afraid of certain situations, and sometimes men at first, but once he sees they are okay, he comes around. He is currently in a foster home that is working with him.
He is crate trained. No cats for him. He tried it once, and just barked and barked at them. The ideal home for Boone would be a quiet home and one with a fenced yard as he really likes to run outside.
Stop by CAWL on Saturday to meet Boone! He’s a super sweet boy who’s been here a while.
Meet Flower!
This super sweet, beautiful girl is looking for her forever home! She will climb right onto your lap, follow you around & greet you with the sweetest little meows.
Flower is approximately 1 year old, good with other cats & small children.
Come by on Saturday to meet her, and let her steal your heart!
